J. Michael Brown has been passionate about programming since the age of 12, and his career has spanned some of the world’s most successful companies. With roles ranging from software application developer to senior applications developer, systems architect, and team lead, Michael has built systems for major corporations like American Airlines, Alaska Airlines, and Amtrak. He holds a patent for inventory control and point-of-sale systems, specifically for an application developed for Amtrak that was used onboard their trains.
His most recent corporate achievement was with D.R. Horton, the largest homebuilder in the United States and a global leader in the industry. At D.R. Horton, Michael developed the company's new home warranty system from scratch, which is now used by thousands across the country. This system has been widely recognized as one of D.R. Horton’s most successful software applications.
Outside of tech, Michael is an avid European car collector and an Emmy-nominated filmmaker, recognized for his first film, A Hero’s Welcome, which honors Medal of Honor recipients. As a serial entrepreneur, he owns multiple ventures, including garageomatic.com, simpleshopkeeper.com, Classic Euro Auto Works, and Vintage Dashworks.
Garage-O-Matic™ was born out of Michael's passion for car collecting and the frustration he faced with unreliable how-to videos online. Many were poorly produced, inaccurate, and often led me down endless rabbit holes, wasting time, energy, and money—not to mention the sheer frustration. But beyond his personal challenges, he recognized a deeper issue: many true experts in various fields are retiring or passing on, and their invaluable knowledge risks being lost to future generations.
Michael wanted to create a platform where these experts could share their hard-earned skills and insights in a way that not only preserves their legacy but also compensates them fairly. Unlike platforms like YouTube, which often undervalue truly knowledgeable creators, Garage-O-Matic™ is designed to ensure experts are rewarded for the time and effort they’ve invested in mastering their craft. This platform isn’t just about saving enthusiasts like Michael from costly mistakes—it’s about celebrating expertise and passing it on to the next generation.
With over five years of development invested into Garage-O-Matic™, Michael is committed to its continued growth and enhancement. He invites users to share their feedback and ideas, believing in constant improvement to serve the needs of small businesses better.
